Here is a desert to make you sick.
Last weekend I had some friends around for dinner. You can find the pictures on minutia. To complete the meal I created a desert I thought of earlier in the day. It was incredibly rich and oh so very delicious.
- Start of with a bowl and place a piece of defrosted puff pastry in it (as much butter as you like).
- Pop in the oven which is cooking along at 230 degrees.
- Brown and try not to burn the puff pastry
- Add blueberries and strawberries. It is these berries that make the dish good for you.
- Add ice cream. Lots. I used Crème brûlée flavour which is essentially sugar flavoured ice cream.
- Coat with rich caramel source (the method to which is coming up).
- Add flaked almonds
- Serve with a glass of your favourite muscat.
The caramel source is an old Women’s Weekly recipe.
- 125g of butter
- 2 cups lightly packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup of glucose syrup (it is so much fun try to get this sticky crap in a cup)
- 1 cup cream
To prepare:
- Over the stove put the butter, sugar and glucose syrup into a pot and heat until the sugar is melted.
- Bring to boil for 5 minutes
- Reduce heat and allow bubbles to subside. At this point you can shove it in the fridge until later.
- Add cream, stiring constantly.
- Serve hot.
Enjoy!
