2009 – Progress Update Published by Ryan Boucher @ 11:55 pm

One thing for sure is I’ve gotten behind in my writing and photography. I’ve managed to take a self portrait every day (except a few) but the editing and uploading is well behind schedule. I’ll get there eventually. I’ve still been writing, but they’re all half-written and in need of editing.

I really liked my February story but there is something missing, an aspect of the plot that really needs to be better. I’ve rewritten that plot four times now and it just feels weak. So I won’t publish it until its ready. This would probably my first real experience with writer’s block and it’s different to what I imagined. I had this mental image of someone not able to write, but I can still write, at length and on different topics. To write a specific aspect of one story that fits in with the rest of the story is much, much harder.

The main reason my writing fell behind was that I bought a house. I exchanged last week and settlement is early June. Woots all around. If you remember that was a big ticket item for this year.

Now to get some of this software I’ve been working on forever out the door.

In other news, I am on twitter. I have been on twitter for yonks but I was primarily using it as a consolidated feed for my antics on the web. Of late I’ve been writing pithy comments and will continue to do so until stopped by soberity. They’re not really that pithy but often I have shorter thoughts about testing and software development that don’t warrant full blog posts. These will go on twitter.

However like this blog you will get semi-personal stuff as it’s not all business, all the time. You can always stop following me if you don’t like what I say. I won’t cry myself to sleep because of it. You can find my feed here.

My Mug Ryan Boucher is a Software Inquisitor and is passionate about it. You can find a whole raft of articles and anecdotes about software testing and other topics he gets excited about.
