One thing that I forgot to mention yesterday with my post about UX and intersections is that the orange line helps reinforce positive behaviour. The approach of using traffic lights punishes those who err rather than teaching people how to make the correct decision more frequently.
When we are designing user interfaces we should be mindful of this and help the user make the correct decision rather than punishing them when they make the wrong one.
